In the highly competitive world of mortgage financing, Fairway Mortgage Corporation is a company where customer service is a way of life. Our philosophy at Fairway is we are only as good as our last loan.

Company President Steve Jacobson exemplifies the corporate philosophy. Jacobson, a Wisconsin native and former University of Wisconsin basketball player and co-captain, was excited to bring his corporate offices to Madison. "Family brought me back to the Midwest, and I am excited about Fairway's opportunities to help people realize their dreams and our potential for growth."

Says Jacobson, "Fairway Mortgage Corporation was set up as a 'net' branch concept. This means that while the branches operate autonomously in terms of day-to-day operations, we maintain constant contact and provide necessary support in the areas of personnel, accounting and compliance."

Fairway Mortgage works with more than 300 lenders nationwide to find the most competitive rate for its customers, regardless of financial history.

"We're a team," says Jacobson. "Fairway, the lender and the customer. We work together to make the dream of owning a home a reality." Because Fairway is a mortgage broker, rather than a direct lender, it has the flexibility to work with numerous lenders until it finds the right one for the customer's needs. Says Jacobson, "And when you come right down to it, all the experience in the world doesn't matter to you unless we get you a mortgage."

"There's an intrinsic reward system based on how you take care of people. And our job is to take care of them better than anyone else."

While the best mortgage rate may be the initial reason for choosing a mortgage broker, quick turn-around and service are what really set Fairway apart. Says Jacobson, "We understand that the process of buying a home can be scary and nerve-wracking, especially for first-time home buyers.

"Our goal at Fairway is to streamline the process, to do whatever we can to put our customers at ease, and to expedite the paperwork."

To reduce the possibility of last minute complications, Fairway makes it a policy to have paperwork ready as early as possible. According to Jacobson, "We routinely have the papers at the realtor's one or two days before the closing. And, our staff makes it a policy to attend the closing in case any questions arise."

Jacobson is joined in the Madison office, by fellow Wisconsin basketball alumnus, and brother-in-law, Dean Anderson. Anderson will oversee the administration functions at Fairway's Madison headquarters and joins the company with 12 years experience in home and commercial construction.

Says Jacobson, "It's an exciting time to be in the mortgage industry. The industry has always challenged us to treat each customer as if they were our only customer. We don't want to be the biggest, we only want to be the best."
